The American Express Delta SkyMiles® Credit Cards are currently offering huge minimum spend/signup bonus offers for the Gold and Platinum versions of the cards!

The personal Gold and Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card.

The offers are good for the personal and business versions of both cards. For example: if you have the personal Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card, you’re eligible to apply for business edition and receive the signup bonus — provided you’ve never had the card before and have fewer than five Amex credit cards.

Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Cards Offer

The Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card personal and business cards each reward new cardholders 60,000 bonus miles after $3,000 in eligible spend within the first four (4) months of approval.

New cardholders are also entitled to a $50 statement credit after making a Delta purchase with the card within the first four (4) months of approval. The Gold Delta Amex card’s $95 annual fee is waived the first year.

Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Cards Offer

The Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card personal and business cards each reward new cardholders 70,000 bonus miles and 10,000 Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs) after $4,000 in eligible spend within the first four (4) months of approval. New cardholders are also entitled to a $100 statement credit after making a Delta purchase with the card within the first four (4) months of approval.

big perk of the Platinum card is an annual buy-one, get-one free companion ticket that is added to the cardholder’s SkyMiles account (staring the second year of holding the card).

Cardholders receive 10,000 MQMs when spending $25,000 in a calendar year — and another 10,000 MQMs when reaching $50,000 in total annual spend. Think you can spend $50,000 before the end of 2017? Get this card. Your spend alone will net you 30,000 MQMs — more than enough to earn Delta Silver Medallion status.

The Platinum Delta Amex card’s annual $195 annual fee is not waived.

How Much Are the SkyMile Bonuses Actually Worth?

Delta SkyMiles are conservatively valued at 1 cent/mile. That would make the Gold’s 60,000 mile bonus worth at least $600; the Platinum’s bonus is pegged at $700.

Other Notable Delta Credit Card Perks

Free Checked Luggage!

Delta Amex cardholders — and those travelers on the same itinerary as the cardholder — receive credit for their first checked bag on each Delta flight. A couple traveling together can save $100 per roundtrip. (That adds up to $400 for a family of eight!) See the “Free First Checked Bag” page on Delta.com for more details.

“‘Priority'” Boarding

Add your Delta Amex card number to your SkyMiles profile and you’ll receive Zone 1 boarding privileges on each Delta flight.

Delta calls this “priority boarding” — and it sort of is. Be aware Zone 1 isn’t the first group to board a Delta flight. It falls behind Premium/first/business class and SkyPriority. But if your original seat assignment was someplace in Zone 2 or Zone 3, you’ll find Zone 1 to be a nice jump.

20% Savings for Certain In Flight Purchases

Cardholders receive a 20% statement credit when using their Delta Amex card to pay for food, beverages, and audio headsets purchased onboard Delta flights.

No Foreign Transaction Fees

Pretty standard for most travel cards.

A Delta Air Lines 767 is parked at a gate at New York's JFK airport.

Delta Purchase Statement Credit

As you read above, both cards come with statement credits — provided you make a Delta purchase within the first four months of approval. These purchases can be airfares, on board snacks, etc.

But what if you don’t have any Delta flights scheduled within the next four months?

Easy.

Head over to Delta.com and buy a gift card for at least $50.

How Much Does the Delta Amex Earn for Each Dollar Spent?

You know the Capital One ads mocking airline credit cards that reward a measly point per dollar — and only two points for each buck spent with that airline?

Guess who they’re talking about?

Each dollar spent on Delta Amex cards earns one SkyMile. Each buck spent directly with Delta yields two SkyMiles.

That’s it. There are no category bonuses for any Delta Amex card (including the expensive Reserve card).

My Experiences with These Cards

I’ve held both the Gold and Platinum Delta credit cards and enjoyed both. I found the Platinum version to be a much better deal — primarily because of the bigger signup bonus and BOGOF certificate. I use the Platinum in tandem with my Delta Reserve card to meet the $25,000 Delta MQD waiver ASAP.

Before I held Delta elite status and stopped checking bags, the luggage savings was huge and Zone 1 boarding was much better than sitting in the back of the bus!

Limited Time Offer!

The deadline to apply is July 26.
